Hyperacusis is an increased or exaggerated sensitivity to sounds perceived as normal by people with normal hearing. Hyperacusis patients often have normal hearing acuity themselves, but their degree of tolerance to sound is diminished compared to others.
During the assessment, our specialized audiologists will investigate the possible cause of the patients’ intolerance to sound and emit a personalized intervention plan including the treatment solutions that best fit the patients’ needs. If and when necessary, the audiologist will refer the patient to an Ear-Nose-Throat doctor (ENT) or a psychologist in order to complete the professional support process.
